Depending on your view of life (and football), I am either in the middle of the third quarter (my belief) or staring at the two-minute warning.
As a person who learned the value of goal setting very early in life, I continue to set new goals every day. One of my most recent additions to my goals list is to enjoy a vigorous, healthy life right through my age one hundred (100).
Recently two of my favorite people were in the office for their portfolio review and I shared my goal with them. This wonderful young woman – an educator through and through – shared her mantra for reaching that very goal:
“Happy – Healthy – Hundred”
Outstanding – and alliterative! Easy to remember. Puts a smile on my face.
Neither of us is interested in crawling across the century mark with our last breath. We want to be exactly what our mantra says – happy, healthy, and one hundred. After that – maybe a quick crash and burn, but not until after one hundred (100) years of happy and healthy.
And just so you don’t misunderstand the value of our mantra. This is not a wish. It is not (only) a prayer. This is a call to action. I have and continue to study all the actions I can take (exercise, diet, hanging around the right kind of people, continuing to find ways to be a blessing in the lives of those around me, laughing – a lot – every day and more) to help me reach my goal. While I am quite aware that there are no guarantees. God (literally) knows when my time will come. My job is to put myself in position to reach my goal. I hope you will join me.
Please allow us to serve you and those you love.
Thank you,
Gene
P.S. What big goal (Happy – Healthy – Hundred?) will get you moving in the right direction with your life? And what actions should you take to get you in position to reach that goal?
