Inspiration comes from many places. I’m often inspired by my family and friends. I have, from my earliest years, been inspired by the stories of great Americans of history. I am inspired by the Scriptures – often in quite unexpected ways.
I am often inspired by music.
Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald are two of my favorite singer/songwriters. Together, and in their solo careers, they have produced some exceptional music. “I Gotta Try” is a song they wrote that I believe speaks to the world we find ourselves facing today. There is much to disappoint us – there always is. Our “public servants” believe it is the public that is to serve them. Many people bemoan, “This is not the America I grew up in.” That’s certainly true. So, we each have a choice to make. Give up or dig in. Kenny and Michael said it for me:
“Some see the road as clear
Some say the end is here
They say it’s a hopeless fight, but I say I gotta try”
If we don’t give up and we don’t give in, we may still win this fight. And like all real Americans – I like a good fight. I gotta try.
God bless all of you and God bless America.
Please allow us to serve you and those you love.
Thank you,
Gene
P.S. What music inspires you?
